Lightning Farron - Mod Example

PLAYER INFORMATION;
NAME: Sheila
JOURNAL: I'll just use this one!
CONTACT: Email/MSN: palmtoptiger@live.ca

CHARACTER INFORMATION;
NAME: Claire "Lightning" Farron
CANON: Final Fantasy XIII
AGE: 21
OCCUPATION: Student at Etro Police Academy
RESIDENCE: Gariland Apartment Complex
PERSONALITY:
Initially, Lightning’s personality may come off as independent, cold, and somewhat distant. She carries herself with confidence and at first glance, Lightning is usually standoffish, making her almost unapproachable to most. Her confidence and independence could be attributed to the fact that for most of her teenage years, she was made responsible for taking care of not only herself, but her sister as well. Lightning can also be a bit stubborn sometimes, especially regarding her sister’s choices, but she understands that they are not hers to make. Lighting has a tendency to hide her feelings (but is trying to be more open about them) in order to appear strong-willed.

Despite this, Lightning is indeed a very dedicated woman and will stop at nothing to protect those that she loves. She is slowly learning to open up and express her emotions to others, but when she does, she is a dedicated friend. Although Lightning can come off as slightly arrogant due to her inability to admit her own error, she still shows compassion towards those she is close to and cares about. In any situation, Lightning usually finds herself taking the place of the leader, and continues on in that role with concentration, perseverance, and dedication.

BIOGRAPHY:
Her name wasn’t always Lightning.

Lightning can barely remember her early life, her father died before she was old enough to remember his face, and her mother passed away due to an unknown sickness when she was only fifteen. Growing up, before her mother’s death, her and Lightning were very close. The death of her mother was a major life changing moment, when she realized that it was her who had to take care of herself and Serah from that point onward. She needed to grow up, much faster than her peers, leaving her friends behind in their young, carefree teenage years. It was then when she decided to call herself “Lightning”, a nickname that caught on fairly quickly. Lightning left her identity behind in order to survive the realities of the world.

After graduating high school, Lightning made the decision to join the police academy to study criminology and train to be a part of the police force. She is now one year from graduation, and well on her way to graduating at the top of her class. The other students avoid her, due to her unapproachable nature, but she doesn’t mind. What good would they do anyway? They would only hold her back. She was not doing this for them, so why should it matter, right? She already has the people she wants to protect in her life.

Somehow though, she fears she can no longer do it alone…

THREE NOTES:
1. Lightning loves strawberry milkshakes and smoothies, and can be frequently found at the local smoothie shop.
2. Though she may not admit it, Lightning loves flowers. Particularly roses.
3. Lightning is not a good cook. In fact, she is quite dreadful in the kitchen and finds herself looking to her sister for help.

WRITING INFORMATION:
JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
Twenty-first birthday was today, needless to say it was a disaster. Serah announced that her and Snow are getting married. I’m not entirely sure how to feel about this. I wanted it to be something small, just me and Serah. But no. Worst birthday ever.

[Private to self]
It’s not Snow’s job to take care of her. I don’t think he can take care of her. I don’t buy it. It’s just ridiculous puppy-love and neither of them seem to really know what they want. She isn’t ready to get married and settle down, and he had the gall to pop the question anyway. Does it not matter what I think? Did he not have the common courtesy to even ask me if it was alright?

Maybe I’m being too over protective. Sometimes you need to be.[/private]

I’m going to go get a strawberry smoothie. Or something.
Thanks for the knife, sis.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
Lightning sipped the refreshing cool smoothie and placed the paper cup down on the table aggressively, shaking her head at herself as she glanced over at her textbook. She was almost done with school, and once she was, they had guaranteed her a position within the Memoria police force. She stared blankly through the window at the passing crowds, lost in thought for a moment about how her life had changed so much in the past five years.

If it weren’t for Serah, Lightning may never have learned how to take care of herself. Maybe this is why I’m having such a hard time with this whole ‘marriage’ thing, she thought to herself before shaking her head feverishly. Lightning took another sip of the smoothie and swirled the straw around, watching the thick pink liquid with bits of strawberry spin round.

She snapped right back to reality when she heard the bell ding melodically as another customer entered the shop. She grabbed her cup and left and felt the sun hit her face. This was a nostalgic feeling, and when she closed her eyes, she saw a beautiful sight. Not entirely sure what it was she saw, but it was a bright and warm feeling. And Serah was there.

I better head home and get some studying done…
